Next day, go for a beginner-friendly bike ride from Redding’s Sundial Bridge to Shasta Dam, taking in views of snow-dusted Mount Shasta.

Redding is your basecamp for visiting Lassen Volcanic National Park, where bubbling mud pots, boiling lakes, and one of California’s best high alpine summit trails await.
