Top Notch Climbs
Top Climbs in Reno Tahoe
The view from the top is always better—especially when the views are of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada. Strap in: Reno Tahoe is a rock-climbing haven, where beginners can learn the ropes and experts can fine-tune their skills. There are three major rock-climbing facilities in Reno, including Basecamp’s 7,000-square-foot bouldering park inside Whitney Peak Hotel.
The hotel also has the world’s tallest outdoor climbing wall (164 feet!), with views spanning the city, the mountains, and the iconic Reno Arch. Take your skills to true granite and one of Tahoe’s top scenic climbs, like Big Chief, or Donner Summit. Eagle Creek Canyon is home to Ninety Foot Wall, a popular beginner area with awesome views of big blue.
More experienced climbers will be enamored with Lover’s Leap. And don’t miss an opportunity to climb or watch climbers at Sugarloaf—the most Yosemite-like rock climbing spot in Tahoe.
