You smell the kettle corn, you hear the farm animals, you feel the Halloween spirit … but let’s face it: You’re lost! Actually, you’re in Temecula’s Big Horse Corn Maze and Harvest Festival, the place to be for fall fun. That includes a zipline, pony rides, corn-shooting air cannons, food and drink vendors, and a pumpkin patch full of pumpkins begging to go home with you.
But first you have to escape the 11-acre maze! Don’t worry: The friendly Big Horse staff is there to make it a fun (albeit challenging) experience. As you enter, they give you a list of trivia questions to answer. Get ’em right and you’ll get closer to the exit. Answer wrong, and false clues send you spiraling deeper and deeper into the twisty maze’s dead-ends and endless circles. Checkpoints along the way help, but it’s still very easy to wander astray. Bring good walking shoes, because you never know how long you will be lost. A half hour? An hour? Two hours?
Should you manage to escape, tons more fall fun awaits you. Conquering the corn maze merits a reward, so treat yourself—games and rides for the kids, a beer and wine garden for adults. Plus that freshly popped kettle corn that tantalized you during your period of wandering. Getting lost was never so fun!
To get to the Big Horse Corn Maze, take the I-15 to CA-79 S/Temecula Pkwy. and head east. The maze is at 33320 Temecula Pkwy. in Temecula at the intersection of Temecula Pkwy. and Butterfield Stage Rd. Parking $5, maze $9 for adults. The maze is open through October 30. Dog-friendly!
